Taco Bell has a extra special Taco Tuesday planned for Sept. 12 – and it involves more than 20,000 Mexican restaurants across the U.S.
You can still go to Taco Bell and get a free seasoned beef Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos on Tuesday, Sept. 5, the fourth of four consecutive taco giveaways – a promotion the fast-food restaurant chain initiated to celebrate Taco John's agreement in July to abandon its trademark for the "Taco Tuesday" phrase. Taco Bell had asked the U.S. government to cancel Taco John's trademark registration.
But on Tuesday, Sept. 12, Taco Bell and food delivery service DoorDash are putting up $5 million towards orders from any participating vender selling Mexican food.
How do I get free food from Taco Bell and DoorDash on Taco Tuesday, Sept. 12?
On Tuesday, Sept. 12, you could use your slice of the $5 million taco tab getting a delivery from Taco Bell – or choose from a slew of local restaurants, too. There's more than 20,000 participating Mexican restaurants in 49 states; New Jersey is excluded because another business called Gregory’s owns the "Taco Tuesday" trademark in that state, according to Taco Bell.
Go to DoorDash to see the full list of restaurants. Use the code TACOTAB and you will get $5 off any order of $15 or more.
Taco Bell plans more Taco Tuesday deals in the future, said Taco Bell chief marketing officer Taylor Montgomery in a press release announcing the promotion.
“While Tuesdays hold a special place in our heart and will continue to do so, this celebration isn’t just about opening up a taco tab," Montgomery said. "It’s about championing every individual who makes, sells, eats and celebrates tacos. This Taco Tuesday is for them.”
Taco Bell trial: Mtn Dew Baja Blast gelato
In a frosty preview of possible menu items to come, Taco Bell has teamed with Mountain Dew on a new MTN Dew Baja Blast Tropical Lime gelato ($2.99, plus tax) that had been tested at one restaurant in Irvine, California lo. The gelato became available Aug. 31 and the two-week supply was deleted Tuesday, Taco Bell said. Another flavor is planned this fall.
